Things We Can Do Alone Part II

By syasandeul - 30 May

Once this MCO and the whole covid-19 is over, I guess we Malaysian deserve to celebrate it together like how we celebrate our independence day, ‘cause now feels like we are contributing even though it’s just…doing nothing in our room? I mean, it’s for the first time doing nothing in the room considered contributing to the whole nation. We are doing our part to cut off the chain. Thus, ‘doing nothing in your room or in your house’ is part of today’s topic: things you can do alone part II.

But doing nothing alone, somehow, sometimes, can be ridiculously torturing too. I don’t know about you, but I guess we all have that one point where being alone for a long time brings boredom and loneliness.

Thus, this blog post is made to encourage the readers to at least find something useful to be doing alone – except, activities involving IT (where you can find in part I) will be excluded in part II. Exciting isn’t it? ‘cause I finally stop emphasizing about it x)

First and foremost, go back to your old hobby or find yourself a new hobby. Talking about hobby in general can be boring, but talking about your hobby, your interest, you will never get bored of it. Think one of your old hobbies that you used to do. Once you tracked that old hobby, you may begin to set things up, and voila, you can start getting back to it! Like mine, I used to blog a lot and I really love blogging – it makes me feel energetic each time I get to publish a new post. So as soon as I think of it, I set up a new blog which is this one, and voila, I begin writing! You can too! As soon as you think of those drawings you used to draw, those paintings you used to paint or those plants you used to plant or collect (I mean sometimes people collect cactus and orchids), go make a plan how to get back to them and start doing it. Having a hobby is actually cool. It gets you things to do even when you have nothing to do.

The next thing you can do alone is declutter your place like your study zone or your bedroom. A relief or a satisfaction naturally comes with decluttering. So most of the times after you tidy up and clean the mess, you’ll feel relieved and satisfied for the whole day. Aside from declutter alone, you may as well add some ‘fragrance’ at that place, like you may light up a scented candle, or have a fragrance spray, whatever you like. It might later smell like a new place to you and it boosts up your feeling and that’s a good thing.

You know, sometimes declutter leads you to finding your old piece of memories out of nowhere. For instance, you may suddenly come across your high school magazine or an old album or scrap book in the middle of it. If you are a sentimental kind of person, this is the point where you reminisce and suddenly an old memory lingers in your mind and probably you won’t stop thinking of it. Prepare a ruthless version of you before you stumble across these old memories. Reminiscing is no harm though, but not being able to move on from the past is. You can learn to accept that bygone is bygone while decluttering. Ok? <3 (because I’m very sentimental and I can feel it.. lol)

Read that one book that has been sitting there on your bookshelves. ‘Cause reading book brings you to many places as well, and there are yet many places you haven’t explored. And of course, you don’t want to waste the money you invested for that book, aite? So, please do so! <3

Til next time,

Xo.
